Jamyangiin Lhagwasuren (March 16, 1912 - May 13, 1982) - Mongolian military and political communist leader, Colonel General (1961), Minister of Defense of the MPR (1959-1969), Hero of the MPR (1989, posthumous), "an outstanding military leader of Mongolia of the XX century" (1999, posthumously).

Biography
He was born in the territory of the khoshun Daychin (now Somon Sayhan Aimaka Bulgan ) in the family of a military official; in the family, besides him, there was another son (his twin brother [1] ) and five sisters. He became one of the first students of the school of scribes; at the age of 20, he voluntarily entered the service of the People's Revolutionary Army of Mongolia, and served in the 15th Cavalry Division; He showed great success in the service and decided to connect his life with the army. For two years he received a military education in Moscow, on his return he received the rank of captain.
In 1935 he became a member of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary (Communist) Party, since 1939 he served as the head of the Political Council and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Army. He participated in the battles at Khalkhin Gol in 1939 and in the fighting against the Japanese troops and Manzhou-Guo in 1945 . In 1951 he graduated from the Military Academy. M. Frunze in Moscow . In 1939-1980 he was a member of the Presidium of the Central Committee and a candidate member, and then a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party. In 1940-1947 he was a deputy of the Small Khural, and in 1951 he became a member of the Great State Khural .
Since 1956, he headed the committee on physical education and sports, was the first president of the National Olympic Committee of Mongolia. In 1959-1969 he was Minister of War and Commander-in-Chief of the People’s Army of the Mongolian People’s Republic; in this position, he undertook a substantial reorganization of the Mongolian armed forces, but after ten years of work in July 1969, he was called to a meeting of the Politburo and after he was dismissed; details of this event have not been made public in Mongolia so far. Later he served for two years as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria and Poland. He retired in March 1982 at the age of 70 and died two months later from a heart attack. He had many Mongolian military awards, as well as awards from the USSR and Yugoslavia.
In 2012, the 100th anniversary of his birth was celebrated in Mongolia [2] .
