Traumatomutilla (lat.) Is a genus of wasps German (velvet ants) from the subfamily Sphaeropthalminae (tribe Sphaeropthalmini ). More than 175 species. Endemic Neotropics [1] .

Description

Small German wasps. The head of females is the same width or narrower than the mesosome; first metasomal nodular tergite. Parasites on stinging Hymenoptera, such as Crabronidae sand wasps and Apidae bees ( Tapinotaspidini ). Information on biology is fragmentary, for example, it is known that the wasp Stictia signata (Linnaeus) (Crabronidae: Bembicinae , Bembicini, Bembicina) is the host for the German wasp Traumatomutilla sphegea ( Fabricius ). Similar to the genus Dasymutilla [1] [2] [3] .

More than 175 species are described, of which only two species are described for both sexes (females and males), and the rest are described either only by females (more than 100) or only by males (about 50) [2] .
