Nikolaos (Nikos) Ikonom ( Greek Νικόλαος "Νίκος" Οικονόμου ; born February 19, 1973 , Athens ) is a Greek professional basketball player ( heavy forward ) and basketball coach. Sports career

Nikos Ikonom already showed great promise as a basketball player in his childhood, in 1989 becoming the champion of Europe under the age of 16 with the cadet team of Greece [1] . In this tournament, he scored an average of 25 points per game, becoming his top scorer [2] . Ikonomu began his professional basketball career in the 1990/91 season as part of the Ionikos club (Nikaia), and from next year he joined one of the strongest clubs in Greece - Panathinaikos [3] . In 1992, he won another European Championship medal, this time among young men under the age of 22 , and the next year appeared on the court and as part of the national team of Greece .

Ikonom played in Panathinaikos until 1999, twice in a row - in 1994 and 1995 - making his way with the club to the Final of the four European leagues of FIBA , and in the 1995/96 season for the first time in the history of Greek basketball, he won this main European club tournament [4] . Twice during this period, he also won the championship and the Greek Cup , and in the star season of 1995/96 he was recognized as the best player in the Greek League [3] .
