Division Formation
The 24th Fighter Aviation Division was formed on August 12, 1940 by conversion from the 57th Fighter Aviation Brigade on the basis of the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR [1]

The 24th Fighter Aviation Division on July 6, 1941, based on the Order of the NPO, was directed to form the 6th Fighter Aviation Air Defense Corps [2]
