Professional career
He made his debut in the professional ring on March 28, 2003, defeating Jesus Valadez on points. [one]
November 3, 2006 confidently won on points Colombian Carlos Tamara with a score of 116/112, 117/111 and 118/110. [2]
On June 8, 2007, he knocked out Colombian Daniel Reyes in the 1st round of the ex-world champion in minimum weight. [3]
Champion Bout with Cesar Canchila
On July 26, 2008, Segura entered the battle against Colombian Cesar Conchila for the title of interim WBA champion in the 1st flyweight title. In a duel that lasted the entire distance, the Colombian athlete won. Judges' score: 115/112 and 117/110 (twice) - all in favor of Cesar. [four]
Second battle with Cesar Canchila
On March 14, 2009, a second battle took place between Segura and Kanchila. The Mexican won by technical knockout in the 4th round and won the title of interim WBA champion in the 1st flyweight. [5]
In June 2009, Segura was granted the status of regular WBA champion in the 1st flyweight title.
Successful Title
July 25, 2009 won by TKO in the 6th round of the Filipino Juanito Rubillara. [6]
On November 21, 2009, he knocked out in the 1st round of Filipino Sonny Boy Yaro. [7]
February 20, 2010 won by TKO in the 3rd round of the Panamanian Walter Tello. [8]
Unification battle with Ivan Calderon
On August 28, 2010, Segura met in a unifying match with the WBO world champion Puerto Rican Ivan Calderon . In a very spectacular battle, Segura won by knockout in the 8th round and combined the titles. [9] For Calderon, this was the first loss in his career.
The fight itself was called "Fight of the Year" (2010) according to the magazine "Ring" . [10]
In November 2010, Segura left the WBA belt.
Second Battle with Ivan Calderon
On April 2, 2011, Giovani gave revenge to Calderon, who had previously taken the title. Segura knocked out the Puerto Rican already in the 3rd round and defended the WBO belt. [eleven]

Championship fight with Brian Viloria
