Biography
Vera Preobrazhenskaya was born in Vladivostok in a family of geologists. From early childhood she was distinguished by outstanding abilities. I independently learned to read at the age of four, at six I read the “War and Peace” by L. N. Tolstoy. Start drawing at an early age. In school, she was fond of drawings by Aubrey Beardsley. After graduating from school in Moscow, she entered the Faculty of Biology of Moscow State University. . Preobrazhenskaya University was an outstanding student, an excellent student, in her abilities in mathematics and physics she was persuaded to go to the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the same Moscow State University. In parallel with her studies, she was engaged in the decoration of events, writing slogans and posters. She painted a lot of cartoons on her fellow students and teachers. In 1944, she was admitted to graduate school at the Department of Invertebrate Zoology, Biological Faculty of Moscow State University. The head is professor world-famous scientist L. A. Zenkevich. In 1945, she decides to leave the university and after unsuccessful attempts to enter the Moscow State Art Institute named after V.I. Surikov and VGIK, where after successfully passing the exams, she is slaughtered for an interview when she answers “Ivan Grozny ”S. Ezenshtein, enters the art center of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions under the direction of People's Artist of the USSR K. F. Yuon, artists L. N. Khoroshkevich , M. T. Khazanov and in the studio at the club named after Serafimovich, where he studies with the artist G. Ryazhsky . Then she was admitted to the Moscow Committee of graphic artists. Since that time, Preobrazhenskaya began working as a graphic artist at Moscow publishing houses: from1949 to 1958 - at the graphic works of the Art Fund of the USSR; from 1950 to 1990 - in the publishing house "Uchpedgiz", subsequently "EDUCATION" , publishing house "Children's Encyclopedia". V. Preobrazhenskaya made a huge number of visual aids, illustrations for textbooks and other publications, in particular dust covers and illustrations for the multi-volume “Animal Life” (1968-1971). Since 1956, she participated in competitions for the best design and illustration of printed materials of the State Committee for Publications of the USSR and the RSFSR. She was awarded 20 diplomas of 1 and 2 degrees, a bronze medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR [1] .
Preobrazhenskaya in the New Reality studio
In 1958, Preobrazhenskaya entered the continuing education studio at the Moscow City Graphics Committee under the leadership of Eli Belyutin . For half a century, Preobrazhenskaya was a member of the New Reality . She participated in all studio exhibitions, including the most famous: I exhibition of Russian abstract art - Taganskaya, 1962; an exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Moscow Union of Artists , December 1962, famous for its scandalous visit to N. S. Khrushchev; exhibition of the studio “New reality. From the Manege to the Manege ”, 1991. Vera Preobrazhenskaya is an artist who has deeply mastered and passed through herself the whole arsenal of knowledge that the Beliutin school gave. She used color, shape, space, light, tone, point, line, plane as the primary elements of the whole system of codes that formed the basis of her artistic language [2] .
