Title
The name of the village is Kalm. Byr translates as “joy; fun; Hello; greeting; celebration; triumph " [2]
History
Date of establishment not established. The village of Bayr was first indicated on a 1984 topographic map [3] . Presumably founded in the second half of the 20th century .
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located in the south of the Ketchenerovsky district within the Priergeninsky plain , which is part of the Caspian lowland , at an altitude of 3 m above sea level [4] . The terrain is flat. 2 km to the west of the village is the Gashun Canal , which belongs to the Chernozemelsky irrigation and watering system . To the north and south of the village there are two reservoirs without a name [5] .
By road, the distance to the capital of Kalmykia, the city of Elista is 130 km, to the district center of the village of Ketchener - 100 km. The nearest settlement is Shatta village, located 9.4 km northwest of the village of Bayr [6] .
According to the Köppen-Geiger classification of climates, the village is located in the semi - arid climate zone (Bsk). In the vicinity of the village, solonetzes are common in combination with brown desert-steppe solonetzic soils [7] .
In the village, as well as throughout Kalmykia , Moscow time operates.

According to the 2002 census, the majority of the population of the village were Kalmyks (88%) [10]
Social Infrastructure
Social infrastructure is not developed. The nearest cultural institutions (club, library) and education (high school, kindergarten) are located in the village of Shatta . Medical care for the residents of the village is provided by the office of a general practitioner located in the village of Shatta , and the Ketchener central district hospital [11] . The nearest emergency department is located in Ketchenery .
The village is not gasified. There is no central water supply, the need for fresh water is provided individually, by delivering water to each household. Drainage is provided through the use of cesspools. The collection system for the organization of the collection of municipal solid waste is absent [11] .
As a rule, a local cemetery is used to bury the dead.
