Biography
Born in the village of Nizhny Sancheleevo, Stavropol region of the Samara province in a large family of a peasant. Father - Sorokin Andrey Fedorovich, in 1944 he headed the Kirov collective farm in the village of Lower Sancheleevo. [one]

He graduated from 8 classes of a rural school, school, then worked as a primary school teacher in the village of New Buyan, Samara province .
World War II
He was drafted into the Red Army by the Stavropol RVC in January 1942. He graduated from the Ulyanovsk Infantry School with a profile as a platoon commander and already in December 1942, with the rank of junior lieutenant, he joined the army at first, the Don Front , then from February 1943 into the 5th Army of the Western Front , from April 1944 as part of the Third Belorussian Front . He received his first baptism of fire in the battles of Stalingrad . He participated in the battles for the liberation of Rzhev , Smolensk , Belarus , Lithuania . Member of the battles to eliminate the East Prussian group. Participated in the assault on Konigsberg .
Feat
In July 1944, in an offensive battle when delivering a combat report to the headquarters of the 72nd Rifle Corps, in the vicinity of the village of Chernivtsi, an enemy group attacked Lieutenant Sorokin and his orderly. As a result of this battle, the horses of Sorokin and his orderly were killed, the orderly himself was wounded. Stepan Andreevich assisted him, led him out of the battlefield, and delivered the combat report to the Corps on time. For this feat, by order of the 277th Infantry Division on behalf of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 5, 1944, Lieutenant Sorokin Stepan Andreyevich was awarded the Order of the Red Star . Postwar Biography
After the war he continued his service in the ranks of the Soviet army . From December 1947 to October 1948 he took advanced training courses for command personnel. Received the rank of captain . He commanded a company . He served in the GDR , in the city of Schwerin , in the Kazan Military District , in the Volga Military District . After being demobilized from the army in 1960, he settled down in the city of Stavropol , the Kuibyshev region , worked as an electrician, and since 1969 he became a master of the boiler shop at the Stavropol TPP Kuibyshevenergo . For the achieved high production performance and the introduction of a large number of rationalization proposals, it has repeatedly been presented for awards and prizes. In 1967 he was elected to the city council. He headed the housing commission of the Togliatti TPP . He died after a long illness on October 31, 2009. He was buried at the Banykinsky cemetery in the city of Togliatti .
