Pie (poetry)

Pie is a small poetic genre [1] , which was formed in 2003 and has received wide distribution to date, primarily on the Internet .

History

The first pies appeared on stih.ru , an offshoot of hokku.ru , where authors of Russian hokku were grouped .

In 2003, Vladislav Kungurov (a pseudonym - al cogol ) published several quatrains on stih.ru , written in white four- foot iamba , without capital letters and punctuation marks . This cycle was called "Pies", many of the quatrains were about food:

and here's another fun case
I spilled milk yesterday
and I drank it on the balcony
below stood a neighbor with glasses

Seeing these quatrains, Vadim Sakhanenko (a pseudonym - Sokhas) invited their author to his forum on hockey, as well as experiments with other microforms of poetry, in order to continue to write such "pies" there. After some time, other genres on the forum died out, pies carried away new authors.

In 2005, the community devoted to pies appeared in the LiveJournal [2] , after which the pies ceased to be the property of a narrow group of authors and gradually began to gain popularity among readers.

Distribution

Currently, on the Internet, pies are published on perashki.ru , in LiveJournal and many other sources, they are also widely used in social networks. So, the most popular pie group “Pies +” in the social network “ VKontakte ” by the beginning of 2015 totaled more than 400 thousand subscribers.

Since 2009, pies are published not only on the Internet, but also on paper. To date, several collective and individual author collections have already been published.

Cakes were published in various periodicals; there are radio programs dedicated to them (for example, on Radio Siberia [3] ).

Genre Features

The genre of pies "arose under the influence of ironic poetry of the turn of the century, dating back to the poetics of the Oberiuts " [4] . In addition to the Oberiuts, Oleg Grigoryev, who is closer in time, is considered to be the forerunner of pies. The immediate precursor of the genre can also be called "impromptu", which created the members of the " Mindless Art Group " [5] in the late 1980s - 1990s. The pies are also compared with such brief forms of humorous poetry as the “Gariks" of Igor Guberman and the odnoshy V. Vishnevsky [6] .

From a formal point of view, the pie is a quatrain written in four- foot iamba according to the scheme 9-8-9-8 (that is, 9 syllables in the first and third lines and 8 syllables in the second and fourth), without rhyme , without punctuation and hyphens, lowercase Russian letters. Spelling rules are often violated in pies, for example, hidden syllables are written ( petyr , october ).

Pies are called the genre of Internet folklore [4] , the comic speech genre [7] , the direction of nonsense literature [1] .

Many authors emphasize the game character of the pies. From the point of view of form, the game character of the pies is expressed in non-standard, abnormal use of the language, which often leads to a comic effect [7] ; in various language games [8] . From the point of view of content, the game character of the pies is manifested, for example, in unexpected semantic twists [9] ; so, the first part of the text can undergo a paradoxical rethinking in the second part, including due to intra-word antonymy [10] :

how can you live without bread
and with an unwashed stove
asked Andrew and died immediately
at least for me
(vera)

Famous historical figures, characters and plots are often played out [11] [8] :

and where is the steering wheel asked Gagarin
the village grunted the kings
ask me where is the reins
still go tell me
(garwuf)

According to some authors, pies express "a playful attitude to the sensation of the tragedy of life and the absurdity of being" [4] .

Derived Genres

Powder is a similar poetic genre. It is distinguished from “pies” by the presence of a rhyme (between even lines - mandatory, between odd lines - optional) and “uneven” size 9-8-9-2, according to the creators of the genre, inherited from impromptu Mindless Art Group :

Aboriginal moans in captivity
Brave Leonard Cocteau
They put him in the nostrils
Coat. [12]

Powder Example:

ruddy fat and funny
a seal lies on the shore
I'm not a seal but just the same
can
(ah um) [13]

In turn, the artichoke is the daughter genre of powder (size 11-9-11-2)

why is this vile dead mouse
brought you home from kindergarten
the three-year-old answered seriously
need to
(Chuck)
