Biography
Arkady Shurupov was born on March 19, 1908 in the village of Migulinskaya [2] (now the Verkhnedonsky district of the Rostov region). Since 1931 he served in the Red Army . Member of the CPSU (b) since 1939. During the Great Patriotic War, from October 20, 1941, he took part in hostilities as head of the intelligence department of the headquarters of the 339th Infantry Division . In 1942 he was transferred to the headquarters of the 37th Army (second formation): senior assistant to the chief of the operational department for studying the experience of the war, chief of the operational department, deputy chief of the operational department. He served under the command of Arefa Blazhey .
Battle Path
Lieutenant Colonel Arkady Shurupov was especially distinguished during the battles for the dam of the Kresovsky reservoir of the Krivoy Rog regional power station named after Lenin on the Saksagan River, located one kilometer southeast of the Frunze mine.
The lieutenant colonel was appointed commander of a special combined detachment of sappers, machine gunners and scouts. On the night of February 21, 1944, the detachment burst into the dam with a sudden throw, captured and cleared it, fought surrounded during the day, holding positions. During the day of February 22, he continued to fight with superior enemy forces of the 112th Infantry Regiment (112 pp) of the 62nd Wehrmacht Infantry Division (62 pd), repelling 8 counterattacks and 20 attempts to blow up the dam. On this day, the battle was at the removal of a grenade throw in trenches and trenches in the territory of the working village of KRES. By its actions, the detachment inflicted serious losses of 112 pp 62 pd, fulfilled the task and kept the dam of the power plant from being blown up, and part of the city of Krivoy Rog from flooding. In this battle, Vladimir Dyshinsky died.
Comrade Shurupov thanks to skillful actions with a light machine gun, repelled in battle by the enemy, grenades and proper control of the detachment, repelled all attacks of the pr-ka and did not allow the dam to explode.

Member of the liberation of Bulgaria, the first Soviet commandant of the city of Dobrich . The merits of Shurupov in the liberation of Bulgaria are marked by his election as an honorary citizen of Dobrich and Sliven [3] .
Post-war years
After the war he served as commander of a rifle regiment, deputy commander of a division. In 1957 he entered the reserve with the rank of colonel. He lived in Rostov-on-Don , conducted active veteran work. The author of chapter VIII in the collective work “North Caucasians in the battles for the Motherland: a brief military historical essay on the military route of the North Caucasus Military District” (1966).
He died in the late 1980s in Rostov.
