Petromarula [2] ( lat. Petromarula ) is a monotypic genus of dicotyledonous plants of the Campanulaceae family, including the species of cirrus Petromarula [3] ( lat. Petromarula pinnata A. DC. ) [4] . The taxonomic name was first published in 1806 [5] .

Content
Distribution and habitat
The only species is endemic to Greece [6] , known only from the island of Crete [7] [8] .
They grow on rocks and in crevices, on steep banks, stone walls [8] .
General characteristics
Strong perennials up to 80 cm high [8] .
The stalk is bare below, slightly pubescent in the upper part [8] .
Rosette leaves, up to 30 cm long [8] .
Flowers are collected in a panicle inflorescence. Distinctive features of flowers are their radial symmetry and free placement of stamens [8] .
The fruit is a drop-down box [8] .
Blossom in April and May [8] .
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30 [9] .
Value
The leaves of cirrus petromarula are edible, and are used by local residents to make salads. To taste, they resemble lettuce , which is reflected in the name of the genus (literally from Greek - “stone lettuce”) [10] .
