Henry Guerro ( Spanish Henri Gerro , Polish: Henryk Roizman , real name is Grigory Roizman ; March 31, 1919 , Rivne , Volyn province - October 17, 1980 , Buenos Aires , Argentina ) - author and performer of his own songs, violinist, singer and actor .

Biography

As a child, he played the clarinet and violin. In the violin class he graduated from a music school in Rivne. Later he studied medicine in Geneva . In the period from 1939 to 1941 he studied the basics of dramatic art in Kiev .

During the years of World War II, he sang with the repertoire of Russian and Jewish songs as part of the front brigades of the Red Army. After the war, Guerro sought political asylum in France . In 1947-1951 he performed and recorded with the orchestras of Henryk Gold, Bernard Potock and others. After concluding a two-year contract with the Buenos Aires International Music Hall, he moved to Argentina. Since 1953 he performed with Rosita Londner in his own shows, operettas and musicals: “Haloymes fun glik” (1953); “A Nacht in Rio” (1956); “A Millionaire Oyf Tsures” (1958); “Berke the Millionaire” (1960); “Shver zu zayn a kaptsn” (1963); Der Farlibter Nar (1966); “Oy from dus a veltele” (1970); Freilech in shtetl (1973); “Zol Zayn Simhes Bai Idn” (1974); Duvidle Klezmer (1976); “S'hot und gut hetrofn” (1976). Henry Guerro toured in England, France, Belgium, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Israel, the USA, Brazil, Mexico and other Latin American countries.

In total, Henry Guerro recorded twenty-five long-playing records and cassettes. Special programs on television in Sweden, England and Brazil were devoted to him.

Henry Guerro died on October 17, 1980 in Buenos Aires (Argentina).
