Big Deer - an island in the Kola district of the Murmansk region . Nearby is the island of Catherine , as well as the small islands of Middle Deer and Small Deer .

Located in the Kola Bay of the Barents Sea . The island is a protected area under the protection of the Murmansk Biological Station [1] .
In 1910, a lighthouse was built on the island [2] .
In 1925, on the island of Bolshoi Oleniy, the Oleneostrovsky burial ground of the early metal era was discovered, which was excavated in 1928 (the work of A.V. Schmidt) and in 1947-1948 (the work of N. N. Gurina). In 2013, dated 3,500 years ago.
On the island in 1950-2006 was the village of Lighthouse Big Deer [2] .
