Jacob Hippolytus Rodriguez (1812, Bordeaux - 1898, Paris) - French scientific writer, historian of Christianity; by main occupation was a stockbroker.

Born in the family of a Jewish banker, educated in Paris, and in 1840 became a broker on the Paris Stock Exchange, making a successful career and increasing his family fortune. In 1855, he resigned as an honorary stockbroker. After that, having enough livelihoods, he lived in his own castle, Fromon, where he studied the early history of Christianity, mostly critical considering the gospel stories. He wrote a number of works on the ancient history of Christianity, some of which were very famous and were translated into English and German. He was a member of the Literary and Musical Societies, as well as the founder and leader of the Jewish Scientific and Literary Society. He was buried in the Pere Lachaise cemetery.
Major works: Trois filles de la Bible (1865), Origines du sermon de la montagne (1868), La justice de Dieu (1869), Le roi des Juifs (1870), Saint-Pierre "(1872)," Histoire des premiers chrétiens "(1863)," Saint-Paul "(1875)," Saint-Jean ".
