Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau , the county’s total area is 1,435.872 km², of which 1,376.276 km² are land and 59.596 km² or 4.15% are water bodies.
Population
According to the 2000 census [1] , the district has 74,057 residents comprising 27,283 households and 19,998 families . The population density is 53.00 people per km 2 . There are 32 188 residential buildings in the district, with a building density of about 23.00 buildings per km 2 . Racial composition of the population: white - 94.58%, African Americans - 0.60%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.25%, Asians - 0.55%, Hawaiians - 0.01%, representatives of other races - 2.94 %, representatives of two or more races - 1.06%. Hispanics accounted for 5.03% of the population, regardless of race .
Out of the total number of households , 35.60% are children under the age of 18 years, 60.90% of households are married couples living together, 8.30% of households are single women without a spouse, 26.70% of households households are not related to families , 21.90% of households consist of one person, 8.00% of households consist of elderly people (65 years and older) living alone. The average household size is 2.66 people and the average family size is 3.11 people.
The age structure of the district: 27.80% under the age of 18, 8.70% from 18 to 24, 29.00% from 25 to 44, 22.60% from 45 to 64, and 22.60% from 65 and older. The average age of a resident of the district is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 99.70 males . For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.30 males .
