Story
The action takes place in the XIX century in Japan , in the city of Nagasaki .
Cinema film - opera is an adaptation of Giacomo Puccini 's opera Madame Butterfly , which was created based on David Belasco’s drama Geisha, written based on the eponymous magazine story by John Luther Long.
In addition to the orchestral dawn for the third act, there are no musical notes in the film, which is rare in films of this kind.
