History
The coalition was named after a mass demonstration on March 8, 2005 , when various parties in the center of Beirut, in response to the cedar revolution , organized demonstrations in gratitude to Syria for assisting in ending the civil war in Lebanon , stabilizing the situation in Lebanon and supporting Lebanese resistance to the Israeli occupation .
