In the UK, it was released as a single on October 29, 1965 and reached 2 places on the single chart , which at that time became the highest position in the British charts in the history of the group [5] . In the United States, the single with this song was released a little later and reached the 74th place (in the Billboard Hot 100 ) [6] .
Rolling Stone magazine placed the song “My Generation” performed by The Who on 11th place on its list of “ 500 Greatest Songs of All Time ” [7] , and the VH1 television channel placed 13th on its list of “100 Greatest Rock Songs” [8 ] . Also in 1999, the song was included in the Grammy Hall of Fame [9] .
In addition, “My Generation” along with three more songs by The Who - “ Baba O'Riley ”, “ Go to the Mirror! ”And“ I Can See for Miles ”- is included in the list of 500 Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll compiled by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame [10] .
In 1999, the single of The Who with this song (released in 1965 via Decca Records ) was admitted to the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame [11] .
In 2016, she became the opening song in the anime Voice Form [12] .
