Erazm Yakovlevich Dlussky (Polish. Erazm Dłuski; January 8 [ January 20 ] 1857 , Shchuchyntsi , Podolsk Province - February 26, 1923 , Otwock , Poland ) - Russian and Polish composer, pianist, teacher [1] [2] .

Biography

Erasmus Dlussky was born in 1857. He studied at the University of St. Petersburg at the Faculty of Mathematics and at the St. Petersburg Conservatory (first with Yu. I. Iogansen in harmony and a few years from N. F. Solovyov with composition), took private lessons from N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov . In 1895 he became a teacher at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. After the October Revolution he emigrated to Poland, from 1920 he taught opera singing at the Warsaw Conservatory [3] .

Erasmus Yakovlevich Dlussky died in 1923.

Creativity

Author of several operas (“Romano” (1895), “The Corinthian Bride” (one act)), compositions for orchestra (“Slavic Rhapsody” and “Spring Dreams”), cantatas “Gori Tower” and about 60 romances. The opera “Urvazi” (1900), created by the composer on his own story from Indian life, was staged in Krakow in 1901, and in St. Petersburg the following year [4] . In addition, he was known as an excellent accompanist [5] ; in this capacity, he collaborated with F. Chaliapin.
