Biography
In 1961 he took monastic tonsure at the monastery of St. Catherine in the Sinai . In the same year he was ordained to the rank of deacon , in 1962 - to the rank of presbyter .
In 1972 he graduated from the theological institute of the University of Athens , as well as the faculty of law at the same university.
From 1972 to 1974 he was rector of the Sinai Compound in the city of Ioannina .
From 1974 to 1978 he was rector of the ancient Athenian Monastery of Pendeli , where the Pan-Orthodox Center, created by the Hellenic Orthodox Church for holding inter-Orthodox and ecumenical conferences, meetings and negotiations, is located.
On August 16, 1976, he was consecrated as titular bishop of Dodon, vicar of the Athenian archbishopric and appointed representative of the archbishop of Athens for public relations and the media. The consecration was performed by the Archbishop of Athens Seraphim (Tikas) , the Metropolitan of Corinth Panteleimon (Karanikolas) , the Metropolitan of Ieris Pavel (Sofos) , the Metropolitan of Argolis Chrysostom (Tavladorakis) , the Metropolitan of Didimotih Agafangel (Tambodoprodis) , the Tropmadoprodzis of the Neapolitan Moses , the Tropudoprodzis of the Neapolis of Koprodoprozit ) and Bishop of Babylon Peter (Yakumelos) .
On August 20, 1991, he was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan with leaving at the same titular department.
May 25, 1994 was elected Metropolitan of Zakynthos.
In 1998, he was one of the main candidates in the election of the new head of the Greek Orthodox Church.
On September 5, 2011, he retired for health reasons, and on October 13 of the same year he was appointed titular Metropolitan of Dodonsky.
