Club career
A pupil of the football club " Imolese Calcho 1919 " from his hometown. He began his adult career in the first team of this club in 1980, having played 25 games in Serie D during the season.
In 1981 he moved to Forli and played for him in the C1 series for the season. The next year he moved to Como , played for two years under the leadership of coach Tarcisio Burnic, and in the 1983/84 season the club won the right to play in the top division , taking second place in Serie B.
In Serie A, Moreno made his debut as part of another team - with his game, the young defender attracted the attention of the Sampdoria coaching staff and joined the team in 1984. Club president Paolo Mantovani gathered a fairly strong team by the start of the season, in the attack of which Roberto Mancini and Gianluca Vialli shone, and coached the club Eugenio Berselini, who led Sampdoria in the 1984/85 season to its first title in its history - the victory in the Italian Cup.
For 15 years, as part of the club, Mannini was a regular player in the starting lineup. In the second half of the 1980s, under the leadership of the new coach Vuyadin Boskov , Moreno was an irreplaceable part of the team's defensive line along with goalkeeper Gianluca Paliuca and defense players Luca Pellegrini , Pietro Verkhovod and Amedeo Carboni , until the latter left the club in 1990 .
Mannini won four Italian Cups with his team and participated in both European Cup finals, to which Sampdoria reached - in 1990 the Belgian Anderlecht was defeated in the Cup Winners Cup final , and in 1992 the Sampdoria lost in the first Champions League Spanish Barcelona .
During his career, Mannini played 377 matches in the national championship for Sampdoria (510 in all tournaments) and is second only to this club, second only to Roberto Mancini (424 in the championship and 566 in all tournaments).
After Sampdoria's departure from Serie A in 1999, Mannini left the team and moved to Misty Albion, reuniting with Nottingham Forest and former Italian club player David Platt . Mannini took part in only ten matches of the first division, after which he returned to Italy and played for the team of his hometown Imolese in the C2 series. In 2000, he completed his career as a football player.
