Biography
Born in 1929 in the city of Merv (Mary), Turkmenistan. In 1957 he graduated from the Minsk Music College. M. Glinka, after which he worked in theaters and philharmonic societies of various cities of the USSR, including the Donetsk Opera and Ballet Theater . In 1965 he moved from the Donetsk Theater to the Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. S. M. Kirov , gradually became the leading artist of this theater. He performed the vocal parts of Prince Igor in the eponymous film-opera (1969) [2] and Sergeant Somov in the comedy “Trembita” (1968). He led an active concert activity in the USSR and abroad.
He died in 2006, was buried in St. Petersburg at the Volkovsky cemetery [3] .
Creativity
Possessing an extremely beautiful timbre, strong and even dramatic baritone, he performed the leading parts of the baritone repertoire. Among other merits, critics noted the ease and freedom of singing, bright appearance and temperament, acting [4] [5] , but at the same time there were accusations of insufficient disclosure of individual features in their heroes, lack of colors [6] . The strengths of the singer were most noticeable in the parts of the Russian classical repertoire, such as Mazepa, Prince Igor, Gryaznoy (The Tsar’s Bride), Boris Godunov, Prince (The Enchantress) [7] [8] .
