The museum is one of the first cultural and scientific institutions of the Republic of Altai. Founded in 1918. The museum has 6 exhibitions in the following areas: nature, ancient history, ethnography, modern history, the Ukok Plateau complex, and visual arts.

GI Choros-Gurkin Estate Museum
In the village of Anos , the famous artist, ethnographer Gregory Choros-Gurkin was born, lived and worked from 1903-1937. His activity became fundamental in the formation of modern Altai culture. The museum is located in a local school. It was opened after the rehabilitation of the artist, in 1956. In the small hall of the museum you can see reproductions of paintings by the artist, his personal belongings, biographical materials. Nearby is the house where Gurkin lived and worked.

Museum of Kazakh Culture
The main purpose of the opening of the museum is to study the history of the settlement of the Kazakhs in Altai , the preservation and development of material and spiritual culture. Visitors are presented with unique exhibits telling about the life, culture, traditions and customs of the Kazakh people. Of great interest is the Kazakh yurt with utensils and household accessories. It is one of the branches of the National Museum named after A. Anokhin .

N. U. Ulagashev Museum
Dedicated to the famous Altai storyteller (kaichi). The memorial complex includes a guest yurt, a manor-house, a workshop of national crafts. Nikolai Ulagashevich compared with Homer, Pushkin, called the wealth of the nation. Being illiterate, he could tell poems and fairy tales for several days. He knew thirty-two poems and more than a hundred fairy tales. He kept in memory legends and legends, songs, proverbs and sayings of his people, folded his poems. All works Nikolai Ulagashevich performed kaem - a special kind of throat singing. It is one of the branches of the National Museum named after A. Anokhin.

Masters Village
The village is famous for its artists and craftsmen who work with clay, wood, metal and other materials. Museum of the Russian Ten-Hand Doll

Altai Center A. K. Bardin
The museum exhibits exhibit the history, culture, traditions, customs and features of the modern life of the inhabitants of Gorny Altai. A peculiar house-museum is represented by four yurts, made in different styles. The first yurt is filled with exhibits, having examined that, an idea of the life of the Altai people appeared a hundred or two hundred years ago. The yurt was made in the form of a traditional Altai dwelling, it was built according to the drawings of the artist GI Choros-Gurkin. The second yurt is dedicated to zaisans - chiefs of the clans who voluntarily became part of Russia. In the second yurt collected works Choros-Gurkin, who supported zaisans during the arrival of Soviet power. The third yurt is a museum of four religions - Orthodoxy, Buddhism, Islam and the white faith. In the fourth tent there are household items of modern Altaians. In the museum complex you can see the coat of arms and the banner of Kara-Mayman - a clan whose leader is AK Bardin .

Chemal Museum of Local Lore
The museum is located on the second floor of a wooden building built over a hundred years ago in the center of the village Chemal. The museum has a permanent exhibition, which acquaints visitors with the Altai life, the history of the Pazyryk culture , immersed in the atmosphere of a Russian room. In the museum you can see the collection of birds and insects, see minerals and rocks. The museum’s collection includes a horse harness, hunting armor, bones of ancient animals, archaeological artifacts, a loom and a piano by EI Kalinina. The museum has an exhibition hall, where works of local artists and craftsmen are represented, souvenirs, paintings and books are sold.

Stone Museum
Unique in its beauty is represented by 14 windows. Two stands are devoted to minerals and minerals of Russia. On all other stands - the stones of the Altai Republic. At the museum's stands you can see truly unique exhibits - volcanic glass and bombs, limestone from stromatolite, on which there are prints of interesting algae, remains of fossil animals. Mineral raw materials stand for minerals that do not require processing - gypsum, talc, graphite, etc. Stones - “healers” are of great interest. These are zeolites , which are part of the preparations for cleaning the body, shungite, "stone oil" (potassium alum). In the museum you can see polymetallic raw materials (cobalt, silver, gold, tungsten, mercury ores), manganese and iron ores, facing and jewelery and ornamental stones. The greatest interest are the stones - talismans. In the museum there is another, truly unique, stand - “relief map of the Altai Territory”. This is an exact copy of the relief of the Altai Republic. The electronic geological map provides an opportunity to study the geological structure of Altai and find out where the various deposits are located. A stand on the Altai earthquake (2003) is very interesting, as well as an earthquake prediction bulletin, photographs on defense geology, materials about the Ukok princess , and archaeological exhibits of the Maiminsky district . In recent years, the remains of bison and mammoth have appeared in the museum.

Altai Telengit Museum
At Kokorinsky high school there is a unique museum of local lore. The museum occupies a separate wooden building consisting of four rooms. The first historical department presents materials on the history of the local collective farm. The ethnographic department reflects the material culture of the indigenous population (Telengitsky yurt with utensils, photo albums, materials on oral folk art). In the archaeological department you can get acquainted with the exhibits reflecting all eras - from the early Neolithic to the Middle Ages: bow and arrows, mummy of the warrior's head, runic, petroglyphs, steles. The fourth section is devoted to the Chui steppe pedigree. Expositions on archeology, history and ethnography of Altai are very diverse. In one of the halls there is an Altai yurt decorated with traditional furnishings inside.

House Museum of N. K. Roerich
In 1926, in the framework of the Central Asian Expedition in Altai , N.K. Roerich lived in the village of Verkh-Uimon for about two weeks, he was recognized all over the world as a painter, educator, archeologist, philosopher, social and cultural figure, traveler and orientalist. Temple of the Apostle John the Theologian on the island of Patmos in the village of Chemal
Patmos Island is an amazingly beautiful place of Gorny-Altai. In 1915, a wooden church was built here, built back in 1849 in Chemale, which eventually collapsed. Historical and Ethnographic Museum "Pazyryk"
The main treasure of the museum is a copy of the old Pazyryk chariot in full size, the original of which is presented in the Hermitage in all its glory. Local History Museum Ermi-Tash
The name of the museum in translation from Altai means "a star stone, or a stone fallen from heaven." Here is collected versatile material on the history and culture of Gorny-Altai.
