Biography
The third (youngest) son of Bartislav VIII (1373-1415), the Duke of Bart and Rügen ( 1394 - 1415 ), and Agnes of Saxe-Lauenburg (d. C. 1435 ).
In 1415, after the death of Duke Vartislav VIII, his possessions were inherited by the sons Barnim VIII and Svyatobor II.
There are few sources that could tell about the biography of this duke . After the division of the duchy on December 6, 1425, Svyatobor II took possession of the island of Rügen , but because of his age was under the care of the elder brother of Barnim VIII the Younger, the Duke of Bart. It is mentioned in the sources on December 17, 1421 , August 6, 1423, and November 22, 1428 .
During independent rule, the Duke Svyatobor of Rugen repeatedly opposed the Pomeranian cities, which on the side of the Hansa participated in the war against Eric Pomeranian , king of Norway , Denmark and Sweden .
The date of his death is unknown. The last time Svyatobor II was mentioned during his stay in Paris on May 12, 1432 . In the document of his older brother Barnim VIII of May 24, 1436, he is indicated as dead. The Polish historian Edward Rimar claimed that the duke passed away in 1432 . This is evidenced by the documents of 1432 - 1434 , in which one Barnim VIII is mentioned. He called himself the Duke of Stralsund , probably after the death of his younger brother Svyatobor II.
The Duke of Pomerania-Rugen Svyatobor II died childless and was buried in the Cistercian Abbey in Neuenkamp (now the city of Franzburg ).
