Club career
Miazga, a New Jersey native of Clifton, joined the New York Red Bulls Academy in 2009 and was assigned to the team until the age of 14 [2] . In 2012, speaking in a team under 16 years old, he helped win the US national academy championship [2] . On May 30, 2013, it was announced that Miazga had signed a homegrown player contract with the New York Red Bulls, becoming just the eighth such player in bulls history [2] . On September 8, 2013, he made his MLS debut at the age of 18, substituting in the 76th minute to replace in a 4-1 victory over Houston Dynamo [3] . In the same year, Matt became the owner of Supporters' Shield . During the 2015 season, Miazga established himself as a player of the main team, forming a reliable tandem in defense with Damien Perrinel . On June 28, 2015, in a derby against New York City , he scored his first goal for the “bulls” (3: 1), having closed with a blow from the head a canopy from a penalty Sasha Kleshtan [4] . After the excellently shown games against David Villa and Sebastian Jovinko , who are some of the best players in the league, Miazga was considered as one of the best defense players in MLS. His strong defensive play over the 2015 season helped the bulls win their second Supporters' Shield in three years, while showing one of the league’s strongest defenses [5] .
On January 30, 2016, Miazga joined London’s Chelsea by signing a 4.5-year contract. The transfer amount was reportedly 3.5 million pounds ($ 5 million) [6] [7] . On April 2, he made his debut for Chelsea, having left the main team for the match of the 32nd round against Aston Villa (4-0) and having spent the entire match on the field [8] .
In the summer of 2016, in order to receive gaming practice, Miazga on a rental basis moved to the Dutch Vitesse . On October 1, in a match against Groningen , he made his debut in Eredivisi [9] . On December 14, Matt scored his first goal for Vitesse in a national cup match against the Jordan Boys [10] . At the end of the season, Miazga helped the team win the Netherlands Cup .
In the summer of 2018, Miazga was leased to the French Nantes [11] . On August 18, in his match against Dijon , he made his debut in League 1 [12] .
On January 25, 2019, Miazga went on loan to the Reading Club for the rest of the season [13] .
International Career
In 2012, Miazga played one match for the Polish national team under 18 years old [14] . Since 2012, he began to play only for the youth teams of the United States.
In May 2013, he took part in the 19th annual international youth tournament in Portugal with the US national team under 18 years old [15] . In August and September 2014, Miazga rejected two calls to the Polish national team under the age of 20 on the basis that he has obligations to the U.S. youth team , although he confirmed that he had not made a final decision on which nation he would represent at the highest level . In October 2014, Poland's U-20 national team coach Marcin Dorn said that he had not given up on Miazgi and that the bull player could still play on his team [16] [17] .
In 2015, Matthew was included in the application for participation in the CONCACAF Youth Championship in Jamaica . At the tournament, he played in matches against the youth teams of Guatemala [18] , Panama [19] , Jamaica [20] , El Salvador [21] and Trinidad and Tobago [22] . In the same year, Matt took part in the youth team in the youth world championships in New Zealand . In the tournament, he played in matches against teams of New Zealand [23] , Myanmar [24] , Colombia [25] and Serbia [26] .
On November 5, 2015, Miazga said: “.. I have not decided yet [at the expense of the national team] and I will wait, and then we'll see who will call me to the main national team first, I’ll go there” [27] . The next day, he received the first call to the US national team to participate in the qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup [28] . On November 14, 2015, in the qualifying match of the 2018 World Cup, Miazga made his debut for the US national team against the national team of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines , replacing Fabian Johnson (6: 1) in the second half [29] .
In 2017, Miazga won the CONCACAF Gold Cup . At the tournament, he played in a match against the Nicaraguan national team [30] .
Miazga was included in the US national team for the CONCACAF 2019 Gold Cup [31] [32] [33] .
