Rolin, Lev Nikolaevich

Lev Nikolayevich Rolin (September 15, 1931, the village of Buda-Koshelevo, Gomel region ) - Soviet , Russian designer, participant in the development and organization of serial production and operation of the R-11 operational-tactical missile, three generations of strategic marine systems with R-11FM missiles, R-13 , R-21 , R-27 , R-27U , R-27K , R-29 , R-29R , R-39 , R-29RM and eleven of their modifications. Developed and implemented programs to improve the reliability and safety of marine systems with missiles R-27 , R-27U , R-29 , R-29R , R-39 , R-29RM . Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1983). He was awarded the Orders of Lenin (1978), the October Revolution (1989), the Red Banner of Labor (1969), the Badge of Honor (1961), and medals.

Biography

Born September 15, 1931 in the village. Buda-Koshelevo Gomel region . Graduated from Dnepropetrovsk State University (1955), mechanical engineer.

A faculty was opened at Dnepropetrovsk State University, where they began to train specialists for the new missile industry. The faculty was called "physical and technical", and leading experts from the Yuzhne Design Bureau were invited to teach. They were excellent specialists in all missile systems.

Since 1955 - in the cities of Zlatoust and Miass , in Special Design Bureau No. 385 (engineering design bureau, State Missile Center “Academician V. P. Makeev Design Bureau”): design engineer, deputy department head, department head - deputy chief designer (1962), deputy chief designer - plenipotentiary representative of the chief designer at the Zlatoust machine-building plant (1967), deputy chief designer - head of the serial production and operation of missile systems (1976), deputy general designer Ctora (1992-2012).

A participant and organizer of copyright and warranty services for missiles and systems in the manufacture and in the operating organizations of the Navy of the USSR and the Russian Navy , as well as work to extend the terms of their operation.

He carried out the technical management of state commissions during the modernization of six missile systems, during salvo firing and conversion launches.

Technical director and direct participant in experimental design work (1987-1991) for field confirmation of volley fire, carried out for the first time in domestic and world practice with a full ammunition of 16 missiles from underwater position ( Behemoth program : strategic missile carrier Novomoskovsk ; R-29RM missiles (U) ) [2] .

Technical director of the preparation and launch into orbit of artificial Earth satellites from a submarine from an underwater position, carried out for the first time in domestic and world practice ( strategic missile carrier Novomoskovsk ; German satellites en: Tubsat-N and Tubsat-N1 ; Russian launch vehicle "Calm" ) (1998).

In total, under the technical guidance of L. N. Rolin, 203 SLBM launches from various points of the World Ocean were made [1] .

The author of 5 inventions. The author of several scientific and technical articles on improving the reliability and safety of SLBMs .

Laureate of the USSR State Prize (1983).

It is entered in the Enterprise Book of Honor ( GRTs named after academician V.P. Makeev ) [3] [4] [5] .

Personal contribution to rocket science

He put forward the idea and prepared a rationale for the organization of maintenance of SLBMs and marine missile systems in the operating organizations of the Navy of the USSR , on the basis of which a decree of the Government of the USSR on the organization of guarantee and author supervision of all cooperation between developers and manufacturers of strategic missile systems was issued (1976).

He substantiated and headed the direction of work to extend the life of SLBMs and marine missile systems. The implementation of this program resulted in multibillion-dollar savings and made it possible to maintain in constant combat readiness the naval component of the nuclear forces of both the USSR and Russia [5] .
