Feat
On March 13, 1945, the final stage of the destruction of the 4th German army in the Balga region began. The 36th Guards Rifle Corps launched an offensive to the bay and along the highway towards Brandenburg . Between the motorway and the Waldburg estate there was a German defensive line. Machine-gun fire from the bunker did not allow soldiers to advance. Artyukhov managed to secretly go from the flank to the bunker and when he ran out of ammunition he closed the embrasure with his body. Subsequently, paramedic Nikolay Insarov and company commander Lieutenant N. A. Dubin removed the sergeant's riddled body.
Posthumously P. D. Artyukhov was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, II degree.
He was buried in the mass grave of Soviet soldiers in the Kaliningrad region, Guryev city district , p. Ushakovo, st. Victory
