The Ubisi monastery complex consists of the monastery of St. George of the 9th century, founded by St. Gregory Handzteli , a 4-story tower (1141), fragments of the defensive wall of the 12th century and some other buildings and structures.
On the territory of the monastery is a unique cycle of frescoes from the late 14th century, made by Damiane , probably influenced by the Byzantine art of the Paleological Renaissance (1261-1453).
The monastery is also famous for honey made by monks.
