History
The Udmurtia Publishing House was established in September 1919 as a publishing department of the Udmurt Commissariat at the People's Commissariat of the RSFSR [1] . The first books were published in 1920.
The department headed by KP Chaynikov , a poet, scientist, and public figure, published Russian and world classics and works of Udmurt writers in the Udmurt language.
In 1922, the Vodsk Cooperative Publishing Association Udkniga was formed on the basis of the department. Many popular books and brochures for peasants and workers saw light, among them: The Grammar of the Udmurt Language by S. P. Zhuikov (1923), The Initial Textbook of the Russian Language for Russians (1924), the book by N. A. Rubakina "Kir zomjyoslen uzёssy syrys" ("Stories about deeds in the animal kingdom") translated M.
