In childhood and adolescence, he played in the theater. Thanks to the influence of the prominent economist Lorenz von Stein , he studied economics and statistics in Budapest since 1862. At the same time, he acted as a feuilletonist in local newspapers (published, in particular, in Illustrierte Welt and Freie Volksstimme) and served as the Budapest correspondent for a number of foreign publications. Then he returned to Vienna. Since 1874, the founder and chief editor of the specialized brewing industry magazine "Gambrinus"; published a review of the work "The situation in the beer industry" ( German: Die Lage der Bierindustrie ; 1877). He headed the Austrian Union of Industry Journalists ( German: Oesterreichischer Fachschriftstellerverband ), was vice president of the Union of Austrian Journalists and Writers. In 1894 he was the director of the International Beer and Food Exhibition in Vienna. The most important work is the review “The Golden Book of Land and Forestry of Austria-Hungary” ( German: Das goldene Buch der Land- und Forstwirtschaft in Oesterreich-Ungarn ; 1890, in 2 volumes). He was also president of the Synagogue Construction Society in Widen and Margareten . He also acted as a playwright.
