Biography
There is no information about the childhood and youth of Chulik Gendargenoyev. It is only known that he was born in 1778 in the village of Khalha-Martan (modern city of Urus-Martan ) [2] .
At the end of the XVII century, after the capture of the Imam of the Caucasus - Mansur , the activities of Chulik Gendargenoyev unfolded in Urus-Martan, which called on residents to oppose the colonial policy of tsarist Russia .
In 1800–1807, under the command of Chulik in Chechnya, large-scale clashes of mountaineers took place with regular units of the tsarist army invading Chechnya [3] . The courage shown by him during the battles with the Russians allowed him to become one of the most respected people in Chechnya [4] .
In September 1807, after several defeats in the battles with the troops of Generals Bulgakov and Gudovich , which significantly outnumbered the Chechen troops in numbers, Chulik Gendargenoyev and Beibulat Taimiev were forced to suspend hostilities and conclude a peace treaty with the Russian authorities [5] [6] .
In 1808, during unknown events, Chulik killed a man (according to other sources, he took responsibility for himself, covering his comrade). Reconciliation soon took place, but its conditions were such that Chulik had to leave Urus-Martan forever. He moved to the shores of the Terek and founded there the village of Chulgi-Yurt , now the administrative center of the Nadterechny district of the Chechen Republic .
He was buried at the Znamensky rural cemetery. During the exile of the Vainakhs to Kazakhstan, its gravestone-churt was removed and walled up in the foundation of various government buildings. Since then, there has been no memorial stone over the grave of Chulik [7] .
