The only news of the Roman preserved in the Ipatiev Chronicle . Under year 6673 ( 1165 ) it was reported that Davyd Rostislavich (the son of the Grand Duke Rostislav Mstislavich ) sat in Vitebsk , and “Romanov Vyacheslav grandson” Rostislav gave “Vasilev and Krasn” [1] . These cities belong to the Smolensk land , but their exact location is not defined [2] .
The Grand Duke Vyacheslav Vladimirovich knows only one son - Mikhail, who died in 1129 [3] . Probably it was he who was the father of Roman. The Grand Duke Rostislav was Roman's cousin uncle.
