Biography

Brian Baker was born on October 13, 1985, lives in West Covina , California . In 2005 and 2006, he played in mixed martial arts at the amateur level, in 2007 he made his debut among professionals - in the first four professional fights he won confident victories, as a result of which he received an invitation to take part in tournaments of the famous American promotion World Extreme Cagefighting .

In total, he held three fights at WEC: in the first technical knockout, he won Jesse Forbes , in the second split decision he defeated Eric Shambari , in the third by unanimous referee decision he was defeated by Cheyla Sonnen .

Having won several more victories in less significant promotions, including defeating Rory Singer in the Maximum Fighting Championship tournament, in 2009 he signed a contract with the prestigious American organization Bellator , where he defeated Matt Horwich in his debut fight. He participated in the second season of the medium weight grand prix, successfully overcame the quarterfinal and semifinal stages, but in the decisive final match he lost to Alexander Shlemenko of Russia, the future champion of the organization, by technical knockout [1] .

Later, he won Jeremy Horn and Joe Riggs in the usual rating battles, in 2011 he became the participant of the fifth season of the middle weights - in the quarterfinal he passed compatriot Jared Hess , while in the semifinals he was defeated by Brazilian Vitor Vianna by technical knockout. The following year, he made another attempt to win the grand prix, but this time he decided to go down to the welterweight division. In the quarter-finals and semi-finals, he again defeated both his rivals, but in the final, he lost to Frenchman Karl Amoussus on the Achilles tendon [2] .

Subsequently, in 2013, he had another fight in Bellator during the eighth season of the welterweight grand prix, in the quarterfinals in the first round he was knocked out by the Brazilian Douglas Lima . In August 2014, it became known that Baker ended relations with the organization [3] .
