Eugene Vladimir Zimin ( August 6, 1947 , Moscow - December 28, 2018 , ibid.) - Soviet hockey player , striker, Russian sports functionary, coach and commentator . Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1968). Honored Trainer of the RSFSR (1981).

Biography

He began to play at the school of Moscow “Locomotive” with coach Boris Tikhonovich Kushtalov. From 16 years old - in the main team of Lokomotiv. In games for the railroad, he was noticed by the head coach of Spartak Vsevolod Bobrov and invited him to play for his team.

Zimin quickly got used to Spartak. In 1966, after leaving sports Evgeni Mayorov Zimin was put in the top three for Boris Mayorov and Vyacheslav Starshinov.

In the 1970s, he already played in the same troika with Vladimir Shadrin and Alexander Yakushev - both in Spartak and in the national team.

He played in Spartak until 1974, and became twice champion of the USSR. In 1974, drafted into the army [3] , played for the SKA MBO (1974-1976). The last season in his career (1976/77) he spent in Wings of the Soviets, in which he won the European Champions Cup (1977).

In total, the USSR championships in 315 matches scored 185 goals.

From 1980 to 1981 - Director of the Sports School “Spartak” (Moscow).

At the end of a career in coaching. In 1981, Art. coach of the USSR junior team - European champion. In the 1984/1985 season, he worked as the head coach of Spartak.

In 1986 - 1990 he was the presenter of sports news in the program "Time".

In 1994-2004, he was the head coach of the Stars of Russia team at the Spartak Cup tournaments.

In 1996 - coach of the national team at the World Cup. Zimin also worked with the youth team of the country, which together with him became the champion of Europe.

In the 1990s, he was the general manager of Spartak (1996), the scout of Philadelphia Flyers (1998, 2002), the manager of Metallurg (Novokuznetsk) in 1999. In March 2009, he was appointed adviser to the general director of the HC MVD on sports issues [4] .

From August 1, 2009 to April 30, 2011 - scout of the Central Scout Bureau of the KHL.

From May 1, 2011 to October 1, 2013 - the main scout of the Central Scout Bureau of the KHL.

From November 6, 2013 to December 28, 2018 - President of the National Scout Association.

He died on December 28, 2018 at 00:20 [5] . The cause of death was an exacerbation of COPD [6] .

From 1986 to 1992 - an employee of the Central Administration of the USSR [7] . From 2001 to 2002 - commentator on the sports channel 7TV [7] .

In 2004, he worked as a commentator on broadcasts from the World Hockey Championship on TVC channel [8] . In 2010, he worked as a hockey commentator on Channel One at the Vancouver Olympics [9] . He acted as a hockey expert in some online publications [10] .

He was buried at the Nikolo-Arkhangelsk cemetery.
