Biography
Alexander Proshkin was born March 25, 1940 in Leningrad in the family of the artist Anatoly Proshkin [1] .
In 1961 he graduated from the acting department of the A.N. Ostrovsky Leningrad Theater Institute , where he studied at the Boris Zon course. From 1961 to 1966, Alexander Proshkin was in the troupe of the Leningrad Comedy Theater under the direction of Nikolai Pavlovich Akimov , whose personality had a great influence on the young actor [2] .
In 1968 he graduated from the Higher Directing Courses at the USSR State Radio and Television.
For many years he worked as a director in the Main Edition of the literary and drama programs of the Central Television, and then in the television screen “Ekran”. In 1975, Alexander Proshkin shot one of the first Soviet television series Olga Sergeevna with Tatyana Doronina in the title role. The film caused a heated debate in the press [1] . The film " Dangerous Age " with Alisa Freindlich and Juozas Budraitis in the lead roles, shot by Proshkin in 1981 , fell in love with viewers and was repeatedly shown on television.
In 1986, the historical and biographical series Mikhailo Lomonosov (the main prize of the All-Union Television Festival in 1988 ), filmed by Alexander Proshkin at the Mosfilm film studio , appeared on television screens. The director returned to the idea of creating the ZhZL genre - a series of television films about the life of prominent personalities of Russia in 1990 , creating the television series Nikolai Vavilov about the tragic fate of a genius scientist-geneticist .
In 1988, the film “The Cold Summer of the Fifty-third ... ” set by him with Anatoly Papanov and Valery Priyykhov in the lead roles, was awarded the national film award “Nika” , the USSR State Prize (1989), the Main Prize at the All-Union Film Festival ( 1988 ), and the IFF Grand Prix in Valenciennes ( 1989 ), and also recognized as the Best Film of the Year according to a survey by the Soviet Screen magazine.
In 1999, the director directed the film “ Russian Revolt ” based on the story of A. Pushkin “The Captain's Daughter ”. In 2000, the film participated in the Main Program of the IFF in Berlin , and was also awarded the following prizes:

- IFF " Listapad " in Minsk - Grand Prix "Gold" Listapada " .
The film “ Trio ” ( 2003 ) won the Special Jury Award for directing at the 2003 Window to Europe Film Festival in Vyborg.
In 2005, Proshkin directed the 11-episode television series Doctor Zhivago , an adaptation of Boris Pasternak’s novel of the same name . The work was awarded in 2006 by the Golden Eagle national film award in the nomination "For the best television series" , as well as the Silver Knight Prize for the best television feature film at the Golden Knight Film Festival of Slavic and Orthodox Peoples ( 2007 ).
In 2008, Alexander Proshkin filmed the story of V. Rasputin " Live and Remember ." The picture received many film awards:

In 2011, Alexander Proshkin completed work on the film adaptation of Friedrich Gorenstein ’s novel “ Atonement ” [3] .

He directed the workshop at the faculty of directing of the Moscow Institute of Television and Radio Broadcasting Ostankino (2014-2015) [11] .
