Biography

James and Estis Wynn's daughter, Karen Leah Wynne, was born in Oklahoma City , Oklahoma , April 18, 1945. She graduated from Norman , Oklahoma and the University of Oklahoma , where she received a bachelor's degree in physiotherapy in the hope of becoming an anatomical illustrator [en ] . But later she received a master's degree in geography with a specialization in cartography [1] [2] .

During her studies at the university, Karen met her future husband, associate professor of geography Todd A. Fonstad [3] [2] . They married on March 21, 1970. From their marriage, a son, Mark Alan [3], and a daughter, Christina, were born.

She worked as a freelance cartographer and a freelance geography lecturer at the University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh from 1993 to 1998 [4] [2] . For 24 years, Karen has been a member of the Oshkosh City Plan Commission and the Oshkosh City Council. In addition, the activities and interests of Karen concerned the following organizations: the board of directors of Grand Opera House; committees for the development of hotels, conference centers and public transport ( Hotel / Convention Center and Mass Transportation Center Development Committees ); Oshkosh Commercial Development Corporation ( Oshkosh Commercial Development Corporation ); Board of Directors of the Business Improvement Council Board of Directors and the Downtown Oshkosh Committee [1] .

Karen was listed in Marquis Who's Who publications: “Who's Who Among American Women,” “Who's Who in the Midwest,” and “Who's Who Among Women of the World” [1] .

Death

Karen Wynn Fonstad died on March 11, 2005 at the age of 59 from a complication of breast cancer . The memorial service was held in the United Methodist Church on Algoma Boulevard in the city of Oshkosh. Buried at Forest Cemetery in [1]
