Chulkov, Boris Alexandrovich

Boris Alexandrovich Chulkov ( March 1, 1932 , Vologda - May 10, 2014 , ibid.) - Russian Soviet poet. Member of the Union of Writers of the USSR (since 1964) [1] , later - member of the Union of Writers of Russia (since 1992).

Biography

Boris Alexandrovich Chulkov was born on September 1, 1932 in Vologda. After graduating from high school, he entered the Leningrad Institute of Foreign Languages . Upon completion, he returned to his hometown, where he taught at the Vologda Pedagogical Institute and the Vologda Branch of the North-West Correspondence Polytechnic Institute. Later he worked as a journalist in the newspaper Vologda Komsomolets. In 1981-1983 he studied at higher literary courses at the A. Gorky Literary Institute in Moscow.

The first poems of B.A. Chulkov were published in 1957, in 1964 he was admitted to the Union of Writers of Russia. The poet’s creativity gravitates to the eternal classical poetry of A. Pushkin , M. Lermontov , A. Fet , he “is distinguished by melodic and touching, depth and piercing sensuality, personal view of the original artist-philosopher” [1] . A distinctive feature of Boris Chulkov’s poetry is a deep study of the urban theme, urban motifs, as well as successful experience in a complex poetic form of an ode [2] . B. A. Chulkov worked hard on translating works of German, English, and French poets.

He was friendly with Nikolai Rubtsov , in 1964, when he was in straitened circumstances, Boris Alexandrovich provided him with a room in his apartment. Human and poetic fellowship was reflected in the works of both Nikolai Rubtsov and in B. Chulkov’s poems: “Once again, the azure flooded with an eye ...”, “Didn't I tell him ...”, “In memory of Nikolai Rubtsov” [2] .

In 1999 he was awarded the Tsarskoye Selo Art Prize for creating the anthology “Tsarskoye Selo in Poetry”.
