Svobodlag ( Svobodnensky forced labor camp ) - a unit operating in the structure of the Main Directorate of Forced Labor Camps of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs of the USSR ( GULAG NKVD ).
History
Svobodlag was singled out as an independent unit in the structure of the NKVD in 1941 on the basis of the Amurlag , which was disbanded in the same year. The Svobodlag Office was located in the city of Svobodny , Khabarovsk Territory (now a city with the same name in the Amur Region ). In the operational command, he first reported directly to the Gulag, and later to the Directorate of Forced Labor Camps and Colonies of the Khabarovsk Regional Directorate of the NKVD (UITLK of the Khabarovsk UNKVD).
Svobodlag ceased to exist in 1946 .
Production
The main production activity of the prisoners was logging and timber processing.
