The station on the Warsaw-Central - Katowice line was built under the name Sosnowice (Polish Sosnowice ) in 1859 , when this territory was part of the Kingdom of Poland . Since 1870, the Sosnowice – Shoppinitz railway border crossing from the Kingdom of Poland to the Kingdom of Prussia was located at the station, connected to the Warsaw-Vienna Railway line . In addition, from 1922 the railway line Sosnowiec- Glavny –Tunel begins here. The station has been named since 1951 .
