Brandon Halsey ( born Brandon Halsey ; September 16, 1986 , San Diego ) is an American mixed-style fighter who has been performing professionally since 2012. Known for the victory over the Russian Alexander Shlemenko , as a result of which he became the Bellator champion in the middle weight category.

Biography
Brandon Halsey was born on September 16, 1986 in San Diego , California . While studying at California State University in Bakersfield, he was a member of the university wrestling team, having achieved some success at the student level.
In January 2012 he made his debut in professional fights according to mixed rules, he defeated his first rival by strangulation from behind in the first round. In the second match, he met veteran Shawnee Carter , who has more than eighty fights on his track record, and won against him by unanimous decision. Having proved himself on the good side, in 2013 he signed a contract with the prestigious American organization Bellator .
Successfully spent the first three rating battles in the new promotion. In the first battle, he caught Rocky Ramirez in the "triangle", as a result of which he lost consciousness, and a technical change was recorded. In the second separate decision, Joe Yager defeated. Whereas in the third he got the better of the experienced Hector Ramirez - using his wrestling skills, he quickly turned the confrontation into the ground, took a favorable position for himself and began to deliver unrequited punches with his hands, eventually achieving a technical knockout.
Thanks to a series of successful performances, in 2014 he was awarded the right to take part in the tenth season of the Bellator Grand Prix in middleweight, where the official contender for the champion title was determined. In the semifinal match, by a unanimous decision, he defeated Joe Pacheco , then in the final he made the elbow lever to Brett Cooper . Having become the winner of the grand prix, in September he went to battle against the current champion of the organization, Russian Alexander Shlemenko . Already in the first minute of the first round he held a choking reception from behind and, thus, won the Bellator champion title [1] .
In May 2015, he was supposed to defend his champion belt in a fight with Kendall Grove , but could not meet the middle weight category, showing an extra 1.4 kg on the scales. The fight finally took place, Halsey won by technical knockout in the fourth round, but the champion’s title was made vacant [2] . In October, the American got the opportunity to regain the middleweight title in a fight with Brazilian challenger Rafael Carvalho , but in the second round, he inflicted the first defeat in his professional career, hitting him right on the liver.
On June 1, 2017, within the framework of the M-1 Challenge 79 tournament, Brandon played a second battle with Alexander Shlemenko, in which the Storm revenge for the defeat in Bellator, breaking his left foot in the liver and finishing off an opponent in the orchestra.
