History
Holland Car was founded in 2005 as a joint venture between the Dutch Trento Engineering BV and Ethiopian Ethio-Holland PLC, which imports used Lada cars from the Netherlands. The first product was the Holland DOCC ( Dutch Overseas Car Company ), which was a replacement brand of Tofaş Şahin ( Fiat 131 ). [one]
The main plant of the company was in Mojo , the second, which opened at the end of 2008, in Tatek .
Since 2007, the company assembled the Chinese Lifan 520 ( Holland Abay ), but cooperation with Lifan ceased in 2009. Representatives of Holland Car claimed that the Chinese side was trying to seize control of the company, and Lifan claimed that the gap was caused by low sales. [2] In 2009, a new joint venture was organized, this time with JAC Motors and the launch of Tekeze , Abay Executive , and Awash Executive models was launched . , and later, in 2010 - Shebelle .
In the same 2009, the company received an award for innovation among medium and small enterprises. [3]
In April 2013, it suddenly became clear that the head of the company, Tadesse Tessema, had left the country, leaving more than 100 buyers without ordered cars. [four]
On April 17, 2013, a trial began that required the extradition of the perpetrator. [5] A corresponding application was also filed with Interpol . [6]
