Qingjian

Under the Western Han Empire, these lands were part of the Yinin County (圁 阴 县). During the time of the dictatorship of Wang Man, it was renamed Fangyin (方 阴 县). Since 215, these lands have long become an arena of struggle between the Huns and the Chinese, passing from hand to hand.

During the time of the Eastern Jin Empire, the Huns created the Great Xia state here. In 427, North Wei troops captured this territory. In 487, Shofan County (朔方 县) was created here, and in 518, these lands became part of Chengping County (城 平县). Under the Western Wei empire, Suide County (绥德 езд) was created in 546, and Yanling County (延陵 县) in 552.

At the end of the Tang empire, the Tangut leader Toba Symi for help in suppressing the uprising, Huang Chao received the title of Jedushi of the Dinnan Military District (定 难 军) in 886. He managed to stay away from the turbulent events of the era of the Five Dynasties and 10 kingdoms, and after the unification of the country by the Song Empire, the next hereditary Tsedushi Li Jipeng in 1982 recognized the primacy of the new empire, but his younger brother Li Jiqian seized control of the Yinzhou region, and he recognized the authority Song then rebelled against her. In 1038, the grandson of Li Jiqiang, Li Yuanhao, proclaimed himself emperor of the state of Xi Xia , and these lands became the scene of the struggle between the Tanguts and the Chinese. In 1084, the Qingjian Fortress (青 涧 城) was founded.

After the Jurchen occupied these lands and included them in the composition of their Jin empire, the territory in the area of ​​the Qingjian fortress in 1182 became the county of Qingjian (青 涧 县).

After these lands became part of the Chinese Ming Empire in 1369, in 1371 the spelling of the county was changed from 青 涧 县 to 清涧 县. When in 1643, Li Zicheng overthrew the Ming empire and proclaimed the Shun empire, the Qingjian County was transformed into the Tyanbo administration (天波 府). In 1645, the Manchu troops included this region in the Qing empire, and the Tyanbo government again became Qingjian county.

In the late 1930s, these lands came under the control of the Communists, becoming part of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Soviet region . After the formation of the PRC in 1950, the Suide Special Region (绥德 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In 1956, Suide Special District was annexed to Yulin Special Region (榆林 专区). In 1958, Qingjian County was annexed to Suide County, but in 1961 it was recreated within its former borders. In 1968, Yulin Special District was renamed Yulin County (榆林 地区).

In 1999, by resolution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Yulin County and the Yulin City County were disbanded, and the Yulin City District was formed.
