Muaz al-Kasasiba

Muaz al-Kasasiba was born on May 29, 1988 in Liba (adm. Unit) of Ay-governorate of Al-Karak in the south of Jordan. His father, Safi Yusuf al-Kasasiba, was a professor of education in Liwa, Kasaba al-Karak, mother Isaf, too, was engaged in teaching. Muaz graduated from high school in Al-Karak and entered the King Hussein Aviation College. After graduating from college in 2009, he began serving in the Royal Air Force of Jordan . In September (July ^[2] ) of 2014, Muaz married engineer Anwar at-Taravna. By the time the ISIS captured the militants, Muaz al-Kasasiba had reached the rank of Air Force senior lieutenant .

ISIS capture and burning alive

The F-16 fighter, which Muaz controlled during the operation of the coalition forces against ISIS ^[3] , crashed on December 24, 2014 due to technical problems during the bombing of a brick factory, although the Islamic State claimed that they had shot it down. The pilot managed to eject before the plane crashed and landed in a lake near the Syrian city of Rakka , where the ISIS militants captured it. On December 30, a detailed interview with Muaz al-Kasasiba was published in an English-language journal, owned by ISIS ^[2] .

Upon learning of the seizure of Muaz, his father and sibling appealed to ISIS members to release him. In the air of one of the Jordanian radio stations, brother Muaza Jawwad al-Kasasiba said: "My brother is a devout man who performs a prayer, observes the fast and always flies with a copy of the Koran " ^[2] .

After unsuccessful negotiations about the release of the captives, his cellmate, Japanese journalist Kenji Goto was beheaded, and al-Kasasiba was locked up in a cage and burned alive. In early February, a 22-minute video of the execution was distributed on the Internet by members of ISIS. The authorities of Jordan confirmed that the pilot was killed on January 3, 2015 ^[4] , that is, a month before it became known to the public. ISIL militants continued to bargain for the life of an already executed prisoner ^[5] . According to some reports, suspicions about the murder of the pilot arose among US officials a week before the publication of the shocking video. According to the British intelligence services, Muaz al-Kasasiba was killed between January 5 and 8 ^{[6] [7]} .

In support of their position, on the video with the burning, the jihadists referred to the words of Ibn Teimiya :

If there is a call to them (enemies) to show or turn them away from [armed] aggression in exponential disfigurement, then this is from established punishment and legitimate jihad .

The news of the execution of a Jordanian pilot led to demonstrations in the Jordanian capital Amman and the hometown of Muaz al-Kasasiba al-Karak . King Abdullah II interrupted his visit to the United States and returned to Jordan. The Jordanian public called for revenge for the martyr's death of Muaz. Soon, the terrorist Sajid al-Rishavi , who was previously exchanged by ISIS for a pilot, and an associate of al-Qaeda’s head in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi Ziyad al-Karbuli, were hanged shortly ^[5] .

On February 6, 2015, in an interview with Roya TV, Sheikh Al-Qaeda Abu Muhammad al-Maqdisi told ^[8] how he also offered to exchange Islamic terrorist Sajid al-Rishawi, sentenced to death, to be exchanged for pilot Muaz al-Kasasib, however, as it turned out with the release of the burning video, IG was deceiving al-Makdisi, and at the time of the negotiations the pilot had already been burned.

وا الأمانَ وبالإيمانِ هُمُ هُمُ ** مْ (عائذٌ) بالحقّ قُل و (رشيدُ)

ذاك (معاذٌ) سابقٌ بجهادِه ** ا (راشدٌ) بالرُّوحِ منه يَجُودُ

يُّوا (الكساسِبةَ) الذين تقدّموا ** يُّوا المَزيدَ وبالمَزيدِ (زُيودُ)

لِيْنيْ لهمِّ عصيِّ الكرَى

وليلٍ طويلٍ بطيءِ السُّرَى

تمادتْ عيونٌ بدمعٍ جرى

سليلِ الكرام كرام الورى
