Metallurg is a professional Russian hockey club from Magnitogorsk , playing in the Continental Hockey League . Five-time champion of Russia. Winner of the Russian Cup in 1998 (winner of the playoffs, which was held separately from the championship of Russia). Two-time winner of the Gagarin Cup in the seasons 2013/2014 and 2015/2016 .

The club was founded in 1955. At present, Metallurg plays in the Kharlamov Division of the Eastern Conference .
The home stadium is Arena Metallurg , which seats 7,704 spectators [1] .
Metallurg is one of the most successful clubs in terms of the number of titles won in the Russian period.
Content
History
Soviet period
In the 1955/1956 season, Metallurg started in the second Class B zone of the USSR Championship. The first game in the club’s history was a meeting with the Voronezh Petrel on December 26, 1955 at the Left Bank Metallurgists Stadium . The match ended with the score 7: 3 in favor of the hosts. At the end of the season, Metallurg took third place in its group. In the next two seasons, the team took 3rd and 8th places, respectively, and then, for almost 10 years, did not perform. Returning to the 1969/1970 season, Metallurg took 7th place. After two more seasons in class “B”, the team again missed the championship, participating only in the championship of the Chelyabinsk region. For seven seasons, from 1974/1975 to 1980/1981, Metallurg played in class “B”, and having won it in the last season, got the right to play in the second league of class “A”.
Russian period
Since 1992, Metallurg has been playing in the top division of the championship of Russia, since 2008 in the KHL.

At the moment, the club colors of the metallurgist are - red, blue and yellow. But fans stick with true, original colors - red, white and blue.

Stadium
In its history, Metallurg held home matches in four stadiums. The team spent the first home matches in the fifties of the XX century at the rink of the Left Bank stadium of metallurgists . The second home arena from 1962 to 1990 was the open skating rink "Baby". The third from 1990 to 2006 was the Ice Palace of Sports named after I. Kh. Romazan .
On January 12, 2007, in a festive atmosphere, a new home arena was opened - Arena Metallurg .
And the last match in LDS named after Romazan, and the first match on the new site, Metallurg held with the same team - Chekhov's Vityaz , and both games ended in overtime with a victory for the hosts (2: 1 and 4: 3, respectively). The first goal in official matches in the new arena was scored by Metallurg striker Denis Platonov.
Fans
Rivalry with other clubs
The Chelyabinsk Tractor is considered a principal rival. It should be noted that on the part of the Tractor fans, this Ural derby is causing more excitement than on the part of Magnitogorsk fans. At different times, there was a sharp rivalry with Dynamo , Vanguard , Salavat Yulaev .
