According to the United States Census Bureau , the total area of the county is 1,001,554 km 2 , of which 983,217 km 2 is land and 18,337 km 2 or 1,830% are water bodies.

There are 12 938 residential buildings on the territory of the district, with a building density of about 13.00 buildings per km 2 . The racial composition of the population: whites - 96.74%, African Americans - 0.19%, Native Americans ( Indians ) - 0.15%, Asians - 0.26%, Hawaiians - 0.00%, representatives of other races - 1.92 %, representatives of two or more races - 0.74%. Hispanic was 3.14% of the population, regardless of race .
40.60% of the total number of households are children under the age of 18, 68.20% of households are married couples living together, 6.90% of households are single women without a spouse, 21.10% of households households are not related to families , 18.00% of households consist of one person, 7.50% of households consist of elderly (65 years and older) living alone.
