History

Under the Qin Empire, these lands were part of the Fushi county (肤 施 县). In 125 BC Zengshan County (增 山 县) was established in these places. During the time of Van Man’s dictatorship , it was renamed Xicheng, but after the founding of the East Han empire, the county was returned to its former name, and then it was rejoined to Fushi county. In the era of the Three Kingdoms, these lands were part of the Wei kingdom and became part of the Binzhou province (并 州). Since 304, these lands have long passed under the power of nomadic peoples.

During the time of the Eastern Jin Empire, the Huns created the Great Xia state here. In 427, North Wei troops captured this territory. In the days of North Wei, Zhenghe County (政和 县) was created on the territory of the modern county. Under the Western Wei Empire, in 552, Zhenghe County was renamed Yanling (延陵 县).

Under the Sui Empire, the structure of administrative divisions in the country was changed from a three-stage to a two-stage one. In 597, Yanling County was renamed Yanfu (延 福 县).

In the days of the Song empire, these lands at first became a zone of struggle between the Chinese empire of Song and the Tangut state of Xi Xia . Dinghu County (定 胡 县) was established in 1098. In 1115, these lands were captured by the Jurchen and became part of the Jurchen Jin Empire. In 1226, Ubu County was created.

After the Mongol conquest in 1264, Ubu County was disbanded, but in 1265 it was re-created. In 1291, the county was elevated in status, becoming the Wuzhou (吴 州) region, but in 1295, the Wuzhou region again became the county of Ubu.

Under the Ming Empire, in 1377 the county was disbanded, and its lands passed under the direct control of the Suide (绥德 州) region authorities, but in 1380 the county was re-created.

In the late 1930s, these lands came under the control of the Communists, becoming part of the Shaanxi-Gansu-Ningxia Soviet region . After the formation of the PRC in 1950, the Suide Special Region (绥德 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In 1956, Suide Special District was annexed to Yulin Special Region (榆林 专区). In 1958, the districts of Qingjian, Zizhou and Ubu were annexed to Suide County, but in 1961 they were recreated within their former borders. In 1968, Yulin Special District was renamed Yulin County (榆林 地区).

In 1999, by resolution of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Yulin County and Yulin City County were disbanded, and the Yulin City District was formed.

Administrative Division

The county is divided into 1 street committee and 5 villages .
