History
Presumably founded in the period of collectivization . So, on the map of the General Staff of the Red Army of 1941, the settlement is marked as the 2nd farm [2] , obviously located in the village of Tavn-Tolgan of the state farm No. 105.
On December 28, 1943, the Kalmyk population was deported . After the liquidation of the Kalmyk ASSR, the village, like other settlements of the Yashalta district, renamed Stepnovsky , became part of the Rostov region. He was returned to the newly formed Kalmyk Autonomous Region (since 1958 - the Kalmyk Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic) in 1957.
Physico-geographical characteristics
The village is located in the north-east of the Yashalta region , within the boundaries of the Kumo-Manych depression , at an altitude of 20 m above sea level [3] . The terrain is flat. A feature of htmtaf is the presence of tubercles elongated in the sub-latitudinal direction, towering above the surrounding area [4] . The soils are chestnut solonetzic and solonchak soils [5] . In the vicinity of the village, salt marshes are common [4] . 3 km north of the village is Manych-Gudilo Lake and the ornithological branch of the Black Earth Nature Reserve.
The distance to the capital of Kalmykia, the city of Elista is about 180 km, to the district center of the village of Yashalta - 70 km, to the administrative center of the rural settlement of the village of Oktyabrsky - 16 km [6] . There is no paved driveway to the village. Transport communication with other settlements is carried out on field roads.

According to the 2002 census, the majority of the population of the village were Kumyks (44%) and Chechens (34%) [9]
Social Infrastructure
There is no social infrastructure. Cultural institutions (club, library and education (high school, kindergarten) are located in the administrative center of the rural settlement - Oktyabrsky village. Medical care for the residents of the village is provided by the feldsher-midwife center of the Oktyabrsky village and the Yashalt central district hospital.
The village is electrified, but not gasified. There is no central water supply, the need for fresh water is provided individually, by delivering water to each household. Drainage is carried out through the use of cesspools.
