History
Under the Western Jin Empire, Fengyang County (丰 阳县) was created in 267, but it was disbanded under the Eastern Jin Empire in 317. During the Liu Song Dynasty, Yangning County (阳 亭 县) was formed, but during the South Qi Dynasty it was disbanded. Under the North Wei empire, Fengyang County was again created in 456, and Yanting County in 481, and later Yanting County was renamed Nanyang (南阳 县). Under the Empire of Western Wei in 553, the southern part of Fengyang County was allocated to Manchuan County (漫 川 县).
Under the Empire of Northern Zhou, Manchuan County was disbanded in 563, and during the Sui Dynasty in 583, Nanyang County was annexed to Fengyang County. After the Jurchen conquest, these places became part of the Jin Empire, and in 1153, Fengyang County was annexed to Shanlo County (上 洛 县).
Under the Ming Empire, in 1477 the county of Shanian was created.
During the Civil War, these places came under the control of the Communists in May 1949. In 1950, the Shanlo Special District (商 雒 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In 1964, in the framework of the national program for the simplification of hieroglyphs, the character 雒 from the name of the special region was replaced by 洛. In 1969, the Shanlo Special District was renamed to Shanlo County (商洛 地区).
In 2002, by the decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Shanlo County and the city district of Shanzhou were disbanded, and the city district of Shanlo was formed.
