History
Since the Qin Empire, these places have been part of the Shangxian County (商 县). Under the Northern Wei Empire, in 500, the southeastern part of Shangxian County was allocated to Nanshan County (南 商 县). Under the Sui Empire, Nanshan County was annexed to Shanlo County (上 洛 县).
Under the Ming Empire, Shannan County was created in 1477.
During the Civil War, these places came under the control of the Communists in May 1949. In 1950, the Shanlo Special District (商 雒 专区) was created, and the county became part of it. In 1964, in the framework of the national program for the simplification of hieroglyphs, the character 雒 from the name of the special region was replaced by 洛. In 1969, the Shanlo Special District was renamed to Shanlo County (商洛 地区).
In 2002, by the decision of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Shanlo County and the city district of Shanzhou were disbanded, and the city district of Shanlo was formed.
