The district council consists of 46 deputies. In the 2016 elections, mandates were distributed as follows: CDU - 16 seats, SPD - 13 seats, Union 90 / Green - 6 seats, Independent voters - 4 seats, Alternative for Germany - 3 seats, FDP - 3 seats and Left - 1 place [ 1] . Ammerland County Land Advisor ( Landrat ) is Jörg Bensberg (non-partisan). In the 2014 elections, he received confirmation of his position as 85.6% of the vote, since no other candidates were put up against him. Dennis Rode ( SPD ) was selected from the county in the Bundestag . In the Lower Saxon Landtag, the district represents Jens Nack ( CDU ).
